GET READY!

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 18, 2008, 3:16 AM

First off. I just now remembered that I was supposed to help get word out about a contest that =TemperanceLupin is holding soon on the theme The Downward Spiral. She's looking for contestants, judges, prize donors, et cetera--do note her if interested. :]

Judging from the amount of stuff I need to check everywhere, I'm abysmally behind in maintaining my internet presence! Sorry about that. You'd think it'd be easier during summer vacation, but now there are so many other distractions! :XD: And one of them is Youtube. I've been GEEKING OUT re-watching the Tenchi Muyo! Universe series. It's been eight years since the show aired on the original Toonami lineup...and it's still so much fun. (I could go on and oooon)

But moving on from eight-year-old fandom revivals...my hand is sore in this one spot, and also itchy. It's too tender to scratch. Such is my punishment for playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl for ten hours straight! I'm trying to finish the solo mode before I leave on Thursday.

OH YES, the point of this entry. I'm leaving for the art tour of Europe tomorrow morningholycrap. Um. This is where I'll be for the next couple weeks:

6/20 Amsterdam, Netherlands
6/23 Heidelberg, Germany
6/24 Munich, Germany
6/26 Venice, Italy
6/27 Lucerne, Switzerland
6/29 Colmar, France
6/30 Paris, France
7/2 London, UK

My art teacher said we'll be able to stop by some internet cafes, but I have no idea where or when. I'll be back on July 5. Catch up with you guys then! :] ENJOY SUMMER.

Oh! One last thing--yet another lurking obsession of mine is the improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?--this is for you, ~kaiya880.

It's freezing up here!

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 5, 2008, 8:46 PM

That's right, freezing. A Sears man came to inspect why the upstairs half of the house always tries to boil us alive. He did his job somewhat too well, but that's all right. Refrigerator rooms > oven rooms.

After some tomfoolery with :iconfatelikesteal:, :iconkaiya880:, and :iconsara1818: all the lurking responsibilities I'd kept at bay with homework surfaced: gotta get a job, learn how to drive, and research colleges, among other things. Achieving senior status hasn't sunk in yet, but bet you anything it will by this summer's end!

Real life aside...*waves it off* I've been reading the V for Vendetta graphic novel over and over. It's just that brilliant. The way David Lloyd blacks in the nuances of shadows is INSANE, and Alan Moore's plot unfolds immaculately. But the important thing is that the story and the art work together seamlessly. SEAM. LESS. Makes me acutely aware of how very little I know about what I love to do, haha. How pale everything looks in the light of comparison, and how large are the shadows and footsteps of giants. But at the same time, several metric tons of inspiration have detonated, and that blazing fallout is no wan flame! And I'm damn well going to get some bigger shoes.

Stopping with the metaphors now--essay writing has yet to fully exit the system--but really. I love finding work like this, whether among people I know, in print, or here on the internet somewhere. It reminds me why being crushed under self-doubt is necessary. For the part where you get back up, determined to do better than ever before.

SO, back to the drawing (and painting/cutting/photographing/tearing up random bits of paper) board! Not that there's actually much choice, since we've been assigned to beef up our portfolios and sketchbooks for AP Studio Art next year. But nevertheless--full speed ahead we go.

And you? :]

Guess what, Comic Club...

Journal Entry: Thu May 15, 2008, 1:46 AM

Hum, haven't posted CC news here in a while! Anyway, we...totally made it into the yearbook! Yay! I was afraid we wouldn't make it, because Comic Club wasn't on the list at the beginning of the year. But yes, we're in there and that means we are officially official. Give yeself a pat on the back. And here's the election results:

President - *blueLudebar/Catherine
Vice President - ~flying-squid/Quinne
Secretary - ~abyssmalwind/Sarah
Treasurer - ~ShinkuShukumei/Jeanette

Also, our Military Adviser is ~Grave75/Moyra, and our Foreign Relations Adviser is ~noroiness/Renee. That last one is a new office for communications with other clubs, mainly APC.

I think we should meet up next Tuesday (the 20th) to plan for a feast on the 27th? And yes, a feast is hugely called for. We made ONE MORE ISSUE THIS YEAR THAN LAST YEAR. HOO-AH. It can also serve as a goodbye party for the club's seniors....sadness. D:

Your V.P. Quinne also thought of pushing through one last issue, so maybe we would even have done THREE THIS YEAR. It would be a collection of really short comics from whoever wants to submit one. By really short we are talking 1-3 pages, due to time constraints. It's a different format from the usual collab-team issues, but I think it wraps up the year nicely while giving anyone who didn't get printed yet a chance to showcase themselves. Also an opportunity for you seniors to say goodbye with a bang? 8D

...COME NEXT TUESDAY!

In other news:

Still not over the DD, haha. When I say eternal thanks to *iStole and ^misskittyoooo, I mean ETERNAL. That goes for everyone who's visited too! Couldn't individually thank every fave, but I tried to keep up with the comments and watches--everything was very much appreciated.

For storytelling purposes/dramatic IMPAAACT, I'm planning on posting two batches of Small Comics. On the downside, it will take more time than usual, maybe another week. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait...but in the meantime, sorry!

Can you believe summer is almost here? I can. Around here the weather indicates that it arrived last month. Regardless, enjoy the last of spring, and school if you're still in it! ;D

THANK YOU :iconistole: and :iconmisskittyoooo: FOR THE DAILY DEVIATION ON RUNNING!!

AKSLDJAS:LFKDJ:FGLKDJG:LKSDASLDAAAAAUNBELIEVABLE

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?? I'm shaking. And laughing in that bizarre high-pitched way that is the only alternative to tears of joy. I logged in, saw a flood of numbers, and thought the internet was going insane. Well. IT IS STILL INSANE. BUT IT'S TRUE!?

:happycry: Thank you everyone!! This is such an honor, and means more than I can type. Say. Express coherently. I never, ever thought this would happen to me. I'm going to work even harder now, first of all so I can try to repay this debt of inspiration and encouragement, and second so I can feel like I deserve this.

Thank you if you're reading this nonsensical babble of gratitude, thank you if you found me through the DD, thank you if you've been supporting this fragile flying whale all along--

You are the launch crew for my dearest, most impossible hopes.

Phoenixing time!

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 8, 2008, 6:49 PM

Wow, what happened to that comic I was going submit over spring break...which was two weeks ago? xD Things got (and are still) a bit hectic. It's something like 50% trying to keep up with school, 30% trying to keep up with sleep, and 20% finding places in between to relax...yeah it's a mess. Things will get better soon. For now, I'm sorry!

Comic Club: Special not-Tuesday meeting at lunch tomorrow! Outside Mabel's room. Hopefully we'll all get to see the legendary Abominable Snowman comic we planned back in December (! xD), and copies of that will be printed and sold by the end of the week. We'll also talk about our last few projects of the year, including a possible exit comic for our club's seniors. I'm truly sorry for failing as a president these past few months to keep CC active. Please come tomorrow so I can try to make up for it before the end of the year!

I hope everyone is doing well and good, and enjoying the spring despite any possible arguments your nose might be having with pollen bits.
