November outside assignment. The theme this time was "Grab the bull by the horns", aka face your fears. There's a lot to this one.
On the left is Space as the vivid endless future; on the right, the Ocean as the endless memory of the past. In-between is uh, me from 1997 with my 2007 head on. Awkward creatures, teens. On a larger scale, humanity is always moving towards the unknown...no matter how far we go, somehow, we are still taking our first steps.
The stuff in the fishbowl are things I don't understand yet (maybe never will): love, fame, time. But the main thing is Oliver the space whale, representing possibility. Failure is always possible, which is why it's feared (I mean, look at how fat the whale is...and then look at those tiny wings).
But there is also the possibility of happiness--which is why, I think, we look forward to it. It's ridiculous, but...we are all whales trying to fly.

This is just brilliant!
+fave, definately.
I think it's that highly stylized head and that whale with wings that's snatching me.

Give me rampant intellectualism as a coping mechanism.
